Larry Stessel
As General Manager and Senior VP of Mercury and EMI Records from 1992 to 1997, Stessel guided the reorganization of these companies resulting in the development of numerous new gold and platinum artists including Vanessa Williams, Selena, D’Angleo, Blessid Union of Souls and The Mighty Mighty Bosstones. He also established a stronger international selling base for U.S.artists (including the largest selling album of BonJovi’s career outside of the U.S.)and a 50% increase in sales and profit margins from catalog sales from overseas operations. He also initiated marketing campaigns with third party companies including MasterCard, Discover Card andthe NFL.
In1998, Larry Stessel founded Trillium Entertainment, an independent management consulting company emphasizing strategic business plans, marketing campaigns, event marketing and corporate sponsorship opportunities for recording artists, start-up entertainment ventures, independent music labels, Internet companies and entertainment related ventures. In 2004,he created Revolver Marketing Group with a long time associate which specializes in branding and entertainment solutions for consumer product companies. Current clients include McDonald’s, Merrill Lynch and Johnson and Johnson.
Stessel graduated from the University of Florida with a degree in Marketing and is a member of NARAS and the CMA.
During his tenure with Sony Music from 1975 to 1991, Larry Stessel was responsible for the marketing strategies behind Michael Jackson (including Thriller), Babyface, Gloria Estefan, Celine Dion, Pearl Jam, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Luther Vandross and numerous others. As Senior VP/Marketing for Epic Records, he oversaw and directed all marketing and advertising campaigns, music video production, concert touring and media relations for that label’s U.S. operations. Subsequently as Senior VP/International Marketing for Sony Music,Mr.Stessel was responsible for implementing all marketing plans for the international market as it related to U.S.based artists and acted as liaison between all of the international managing directors and Sony’s U.S.based record labels. In addition, he produced and directed the highly rated CBS Television special Michael Jackson: The Magic Returns and received the Cable Ace Award for “Best Long form Music Special” for executive producing Showtime’sGloria Estefan Homecoming Special.
