J. Fred Knobloch
What do Ray Charles, Kenny Rogers, Faith Hill, George Strait, Trisha Yearwood, Delbert McClinton, The Dirt Band, Gregg Allman, Ruth Brown, John Anderson, Etta James and Levon Helms have in common? They've all recorded songs written by J Fred Knobloch.
A Mississippi native, J Fred has over 130 cuts to his credit by artists whose styles range from Country to R&B to Jazz and Pop with several of his tunes used in movies and television. On the heels of modest success as a songwriter/artist for Scotti Bros. Records in 1980 through 82, J Fred relocated to Nashville from Los Angeles in January 1983 to pursue a writing career full-time on Music Row--or Tin Pan Valley as he likes to call it. His most recent chart successes were Faith Hill's "If My Heart Had Wings" and George Strait's "Meanwhile".
A self-published songwriter for the past 8 years, he still works as a session musician and vocalist here in town, as well as performing 30 to 40 dates a year on the road.
