Cassie Petrey
New Media, Warner Bros. Nashville
Cassie Petrey has always known that she was destined to work in the music industry...she was just unsure of how to fit her piece into the puzzle. At age 9, her first attempt to acheive her dream and focused on her ambitions to become an artist. This dream would soon be shattered when she was suddenly kicked out of her 4th grade choir, due to a severe case of tone-deafness. Two years later, Petrey started her very own e-magazine dedicated to the Backstreet Boys, which was appropriately titled "Backstreet Asylum." She followed her work with numerous street team assignments and soon realized that she could find her place in this industry if she just kept her vocal cords silent and let her brain do the work. Marketing was her calling.
Throughout her grade school years, Petrey did everything possible to get involved in the loca Louisville, KY music scene. She joined numerous street teams, worked at an independent record label, an artist management firm, and eventually landed a position as a College Representative for WEA in 2004. During her time at WEA, Petrey found herself creating new ways to incorporate online marketing into her job. She began managing The Click Five's (Atlantic Records) MySpace campaign, and succeeded in ahceiving the #1 chart position on MySpace in 2005. Petrey's innovative efforts did not go unnoticed. She was selected as one of the top four representatives in her program in '05, and was recruited to work on various online marketing campaigns throughout the company.
In 2005, Petrey took a position working with the New Media Department at Warner Bros. Nashville. She currently oversees all social networking campaigns for the label's roster, which includes Faith Hill, The Wreckers, Big & Rich, Blake Shelton, and many others.
In addition to working with Warner Bros. Nashville, in 2006, Petrey co-founded Crowd Surf with Jade Driver. Crowd Surf specializes in online and viral marketing and is the creator of the upcoming industry blogging site, with a good cause, TheOneLove. Current Crowd Surf clients include Brian Littrell of the Backstreet Boys, multiple artists with Word Records, Fervent Records, Gotee Records, Provident Music Group and independent artists such as Austin Cody and Adriano Schiavo.
Petrey is currently a student at Middle Tennessee State University and will graduate this summer with a degree in Recording Industry: Music Business.
