Originally a San Diego native, Brian Peterson came on to the Nashville music scene at the tail end of the dot -com boom when street teams were king and social networks still meant friends meeting at the corner pub or the local coffeehouse. After spending several years at EMI Christian Music Group with the New Media team, he accepted a position at Provident Label Group, a division of SONY BMG Peterson currently heads up the Interactive Marketing department at Provident Label Group (Reunion Records, Essential Records and Flicker Records), home to many of Christian music’s biggest recording artists such as Michael W. Smith, Casting Crowns, Jars of Clay and Third Day. “Industry as a whole has spent much of the last few years adjusting from the days when music consumers got their music fixes from centralized web portals to seeking out the more fragmented niche web communities of today,” Peterson comments. “Fortunately I’ve always been surrounded by intelligent, forward-thinking people on my team as well as artists who have embraced these changes. Together we’re able to take advantage of new online marketing trends like user-generated content, social networking and blogging. It’s a really fun time to be on this side of the music business.” Peterson currently resides in south Nashville, Tennessee with his wife and daughter.
